TUESDAY, SEPT. 7: Church Officers’ monthly meeting at 7 P.M. in the parish hall. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 8: Making of the Pirohi in the church kitchen, beginning at 9 A.M. until 4 P.M. for the Clymer Days’ Celebration.   

FRIDAY, SEPT. 17: 7:05 P.M. Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood of Pittsburgh Night at PNC Park when the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team takes on the Arizona Diamondbacks.  All fans receive a Roberto Clemente Bronze Bust.  Saint Nicholas Church Choir of Homestead, PA will perform the National Anthem on the field during the Pirates pregame ceremony.  $20 Outfield Box Seat.  As a special benefit, $5 from every ticket will go back to the Brotherhood.    

SUNDAY, SEPT. 19: Stuffed Pork Chop Dinner served at Christ the Saviour Educational Center on Garfield Street across from the Cathedral, beginning at 11:00 A.M.     

WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAY, SEPT. 22, 23, 24: Making of the Holupki & Haluski in the church kitchen, beginning at 9 A.M. each day until 4 P.M. for the Clymer Days’ Celebration.    

SATURDAY, SEPT. 25: 2010 Know Your Faith Diocesan Educational Conference at Camp Nazareth, Mercer, PA from 9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.  This enlightening seminar, entitled: “Growing Faithful Stewards!” is a workshop for teaching/learning stewardship in your parish.  Facilitators are Father Basil Aden, Pastor of Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church in Rockford, IL and Fr. Deacon Stephen Hall of Saint Thomas the Apostle mission parish in Waldorf, MD.  Participants are to call Father Kenneth Bachofsky at (330) 372-6240.  The fee for this one-day program is $15.00, payable at the door, and includes all necessary materials and lunch in the Camp’s dining hall.    

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, SEPT. 25 & 26: ANNUAL CLYMER DAYS’ CELEBRATION at the Sherman Street Park in the borough from 12 Noon until 9 P.M. each day.  Saint Michael’s Orthodox Church shall sponsor the “Ethnic Foods’ Tent”, selling Holupki, Pirohi, Haluski, Tomato Salad and Benzel’s Pretzels under the white canopy tent to hungry patrons at this gala affair.  Musical entertainment, a parade, a running race, children’s games & activities and Italian Fireworks, sponsored by Luigi’s Ristorante on Sunday night, are featured at this three-day festival.

Church Information and Pastoral Notes

Rectory Office Hours:   10:00AM to 4:00PM,  Monday through Friday
Emergency Sick Calls can be made anytime. Please telephone the rectory at (724) 254-4343 when a family member is admitted to hospital.
MARRIAGES are solemnized on Saturdays and Sundays. Consult the pastor at least six months in advance and before plans have been made for the wedding reception.
Marriages cannot be celebrated during the fasting seasons of the church year, or on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Also, weddings are not permitted on the Feast of The Beheading of St. John the Baptist (Sept. 11 - Julian calendar),
on the Feast of the Cross Elevation (Sept. 27 - Julian calendar), plus
on the Feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Pascha),
on the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Christmas - Julian calendar) because on these holy days (Easter and Christmas) our private rejoicing should be subordinated to that of the Church celebrating the Resurrection and Birth of our Savior.
BAPTISMS are normally scheduled on Sundays at 11:30AM. Consult with the pastor. Two God-parents are required, at least one of whom must be Orthodox by Faith and the other a practicing Christian.
An infant's first or middle name must be a saint's name.
CHURCH  FUNERALS are provided for practicing Orthodox Christians who are current in their spiritual and financial obligations to the parish; otherwise, burial is from the funeral home.
